This is a really creepy picture, you're right! Is it the halo or the artificial blue background that makes you look like you're from outer space! You're way cuter than this in REAL LIFE! I say if they want to put your picture on your column, you get to pick the one you want. Maybe it should match your style? A 13 year old kid kicking up rocks and causing trouble everywhere he goes. Endearing, yes? Trouble maker, yes? I'm sure your mom would be happy to search the archives!! :)

Oh, Edwin. You're not ugly. But you do kind of look like the love child of Waylon Jennings and Louis CK.

Actually, it's old school journalism, it helps to brand a great resource - you, and it gives the column your personality. Yea, it probably should be 1/3 to 1/2 it's size, but the idea is right.

You should do what they did with Dear Abby, and heaven knows how many other columnists: Use an old picture, one you think makes you look good. I mean, from the time I became aware of Dear Abby until she retired, I think I only ever saw one picture of her. And it was probably from the 1960s at the latest, to judge by the hair.

And I'm pretty sure she's not the only one.

Now that I come to think of it, Ray Bradbury used a certain picture of himself, holding a black cat, for a long, long time. I remember when I saw him on television taking Michael Moore to task for the title Farenheit 9/11—"Give me back my title!"—I was suddenly slapped back into reality and recognizing that yeah, he does get older.

Tom Victor, the photographer credited with that picture, died in 1989. The photograph appears on the back of the hardcover edition of "Graveyard for Lunatics" (1990), which is certainly fair; it also appeared on the back jacket flap of "From the Dust Returned" (2001), "The Cat's Pajamas" (2004), and "Too Soon From the Cave, Too Far From the Stars" (2005). Indeed, it might be the standard author photo for two decades. (He used a more recent photo for the front cover of "We'll Always Have Paris", a 2009 release.)
