As a Tree Hugger with all the Druidic tendencies that apply and as a long time fan of The Lorax, I must speak for the innocent tree. The strike was not only fecklessly incompetent, missing the proper target by so many feet or cubits or whatever the Florida commenters measure by, but it has frothed up the ignorant believers to an intolerable pitch. I forgive God this mistake but I shall not forget.

Apparently, most of these Bible-thumping creators-of-reason-as-you-please, ignore the one and only time, Biblically speaking, the Almighty ever actually spoke to us: The Ten Commandments, Mr. DeMille. It is no coincidence the first three are almost identical: G-d knew man is a compulsive idolater. We just have to find some way to explain that dark hole called death. Somehow, we humans got to be exempt. Let's invent a spiritual bridge, a man-made explanation as it were, impervious to logic but noble as pure faith, between our awarenesses of our mortality and our yearning for immortality. In this case, it's The Lightening God. So those first three Commandments order us to resist imagining what G-d is and, instead, encourage us to humbly accept what G-d might be.
